The 3rd Annual Pink the Town Peony Party

pink the town peony party 2

I can’t believe it’s my 3rd time hosting my annual Pink the Town Peony Party! I’ve had so much fun planning these events and coming up with new ideas each year.

At the 1st Annual Peony Party we created floral arrangements and drank peony tea. At the 2nd Annual Peony Party we made peony flowers out of icing and had a peony photo booth.

This past Friday, we celebrated the 3rd Annual Peony party at Le Dolci Cupcakes & Cakes in Toronto.

Check out all of the details below!

The event started with a floral workshop. Flower Maiden taught us all how to create beautiful overflowing peony flower arrangements.

Special thanks to the amazing Cecile Lau Calligraphy who made name tags for all guests and custom calligraphy signs! If you ever need professional calligraphy done, she is definitely the girl to call. Her work is always stunning.

All guests took home goodies from L’Occitane & Cherrypick! Cherrypick gifted guests with their pretty double stud earrings and L’Occitane gave two products from their peony line. You have to smell these peony products!

Snacking Queen

I’m basically the snacking queen. So, when Smartfood reached out to me to partner up on a collab about snacking I obviously couldn’t say no. Smartfood popcorn has always been one of my favourite go-to snacks. It’s super addicting. The white cheddar cheesy goodness just melts in your mouth. Smartfood recently commissioned a survey and found that nearly one third of Canadian women hide their snacks. Anyone else guilty of this? I definitely am!

Enter every woman’s best kept secret: the SmartStash! Whether it’s the top shelf of the cupboard or the pantry or in your desk drawer at work, we all seem to have a secret little hiding spot. For me, it’s definitely my desk drawer at work.

I’ve also discovered a few other handy little hiding spot ideas. Check them out below and keep reading for a fun contest!

SmartStash #1: I’ve found that the prettier the container, the less likely my boyfriend is to open it. If I stash my snacks in something pink or covered in flowers, my boyfriend won’t be going anywhere near it.

SmartStash #2: The coffee mug. To other’s it may look like I’m drinking a cup of coffee at my desk, but only I know the truth.

.

SmartStash # 3: The top shelf of the cupboard behind the pretty dishes, mugs or glasses. You know the dishes and glasses that you only use on special occasions? It makes for the perfect hiding spot since those items are rarely moved.

And there you go! Happy snacking everyone!

Macaron Smoothie Recipe

Let me start by saying that I actually made the below macarons! Yes, that’s me bragging haha. Because, if you know anything about macarons, you know that they are one of the hardest recipes to master. I’ve definitely not yet mastered the recipe, but I did make these with some help from a Macaron Workshop at Le Dolci. This is my second time taking the class. The first time was part of a Pink the Town event and the second was for a friends birthday party. It’s a fun way to spend a girl’s day, bachelorette party or shower. This time, I even created a mini macaron doughnut (pictured below!). I also decided to put together the below Macaron Smoothie recipe. Mmmmm!

I loved using the gold flakes and a paint brush to create the gold effects on the pink macarons.

Did you know that almost all macarons are the same flavour? It’s actually the icing in the middle that gives the cookie it’s flavour. The macaron cookie is also rock hard when it comes out of the oven. It’s only after the cookie absorbs the moisture from the icing in the middle that it develops it’s soft, chewy consistency.

Macaron Smoothie Recipe:

Ingredients:

1 Banana

1 Handful of Frozen Pineapple & Peaches

2 Strawberries

2 Cups of Almond Milk

1 Cup of Coconut Milk (skip this ingredient if you like your smoothie extra thick)

1 Tsp of Vanilla Extract

Directions:

Add all ingredients into a blender and blend until fully mixed.
