Take 10 For Happy Hour

Ever since getting back from vacation I’ve been trying to keep the happy hour vibes alive. It’s always hard getting back to reality and this week I’m excited to share a delicious cocktail recipe that you can use for your next happy hour!

Life can get so busy and sometimes the simple things (like the joy of happy hour with your girlfriends) can get pushed aside. Keeping in touch with family and girlfriends can be tricky – especially friends that have kids! To help, I’ve partnered with SunRype Slim on a fun #Take10 challenge. The goal is to treat yourself to a #Take10 moment – something that will bring you joy and make you happy. I’ve chosen a 10 minute “happy hour” over the phone for some good old fashioned girl chat and some delicious cocktails. This new Pink Grapefruit flavour is so delicious and only 10 calories per serving + no aspartame and no artificial flavours or colours! Pink grapefruit has been one of my favourite flavours for so long and not just because it’s pink 🙂

For my #Take10 moment I gave one of my girlfriends from high school a call that lives in my hometown and since I now live in Toronto, it can be tricky to get together. It was nice to catch up on recent vacations and what’s new with her kids. We both loved the flavour of the cocktail and it was nice to have a moment where we could both relax and have some “me time”.

Your #Take10 mission: Plan a date/time with a friend you haven’t seen in a while. Share a cocktail recipe and then ring up your favourite girlfriend on the phone (like the good old days) or meet over Facetime as you sip on something delicious. Be sure to check out my cocktail recipe below!

Punta Cana Vacay Swimwear

It was so nice to finally have a reason to be back in a bathing suit! My skin hadn’t felt the sun in about 6 months, so I was long overdue!

I wanted to share some of the cute swimsuits that I wore on the trip. I fell in love instantly with this one piece! It has the most amazing colourful pattern and fits so nicely. I also HAD TO with these heart-shaped pink sunglasses. Totally not wearable on a day-to-day basis, but for a girls trip to the beach or a vacay they are perfect!

Can we talk about this floor length coverup?! It is seriously stunning. I definitely felt super extra wearing this around the resort, but I received a ton of compliments and it’s just too pretty not to wear. It took up quite a bit of room in my suit case, but was totally worth it haha. It can give any bathing suit an instantly elevated look and really makes a statement. I love it so much!

I’m a sucker for lemon prints and this bikini below has become one of my new favourites. It’s just too cute. There’s a couple of different styles in the same pattern and it’s definitely worth checking out if you are on the hunt for a new bathing suit this summer. It’s also reversible!  The pattern comes in a really cute one piece as well!

You also have to check out the little lace coverup below. It’s a light lace, a much different fabric from the white floor length coverup above. I love how flowy it is and that it still shows your bikini.

I’m always hesitant to order bikini’s online because I always prefer to try them on first. You’re always taking a risk ordering online, which is why I really like Shein. You can see images and reviews from people who have previously bought the items so you can get honest details about how it fits and what it looks like on people (not models). This one below fit perfectly and is adorable. I’m also super picky about the quality of my bathing suits and this one doesn’t feel cheap at all. The pink ruffles on the top and bottoms are ADORABLE!

Also, how adorable is this sun hat!? I love the pink pom-pom details. My palm circle towel I bring on every trip because it matches my carry-on/beach bag and I also used it as a blanket on the plane haha. It’s from Poppy & Peonies. They seriously have THE cutest travel accessories!

The white coverup below is from La Vie En Rose and it is so perfect to throw over any bathing suit. I love the details on the back and the way it hangs. It’s also super lightweight and easy to pack because it doesn’t wrinkle.

The below is another new fav bikini that I picked up on sale at La Vie En Rose before my trip. I love that you can wear it up on your shoulders or off your shoulders for two different looks. If I were to create my perfect bikini in my mind, this would be it. I love the baby pink colour and the lace/eyelet details.

Punta Cana Vacay Fashion

I’m an over-packer when I go on vacation. It’s a real problem. Especially now that airplanes are putting more and more restrictions on luggage weight, it’s always an absolute miracle when I’m not over on my luggage weight. This time was no exception. I was a couple of pounds over and had to be that person over on the side opening her suit case and trying to shove as much as I can into my carry-on. I just have a hard time narrowing down what to bring and I also never know what I’m going to feel like wearing when I get there! I also have a hard time narrowing down the beauty products and lotions. I like to be prepared for anything, what can I say?!

I wanted to share some of the outfits I wore on vacay – especially since spring and summer weather is finally on it’s way! How adorable is this first top? I love that it ties with two bows on the shoulders and so perfectly flowy. Also, these earrings are a fav anytime I’m on vacation. I love the long fringe and the bright pops of pink ombre! Also, these shoes! Can you tell I’m a sucker for bows? They look cute with just about any outfit.

This next dress is one of my new favourites. I love the muted dark pink colour and the fit/style is perfection. This brand has a bunch of other dresses in this same style and I find it super flattering. It cinches your waist and shows just enough cleavage.

I have two of these palm dresses and I am so obsessed. They are so easy to throw on and go for literally any occasion. I always get alot of compliments – I think people love the palm prints!

Punta Cana Travel Diary

I’ve been to Punta Cana before and loved it, but at this stage in my life I’m really trying to only visit new places. However, this winter was so long and dreadful that we were desperate to get away. Dominican always has the best prices and it’s such an easy trip! It’s a short flight and the resorts are close to the airport, which is nice when you are just in the mood to lay on a beach for a week. It’s also been a long time since we have done an all-inclusive trip, so we pulled the trigger on a trip to Punta Cana after finding Sanctuary Cap Cana online. It looked amazing, has been recently renovated and the reviews were really good. Since the internet is such a negative place, I find if the reviews are mostly positive you know it’s going to be decent.

I was actually pleasantly surprised by how much I loved the resort. The decor, grounds, lobby and buildings are beautiful! The castle is stunning and the architecture makes it seem like you are somewhere in Europe. There’s so many colourful buildings and lots of pink which I of course loved!

The pools are stunning and there’s many to choose from. The castle pool was by far our favourite. Staff were very friendly and accommodating which made the trip even better.

The spa located inside the castle was incredible. We got one day of rain so we booked the spa. The outdoor area was so relaxing – I had a nap in a lounger outside just listening to the rain. You can do the hot tubs and cold dip etc. I got a massage and it was one of the best massages I have ever had.

When we first arrived we had booked an ocean view and our room was really nice, but we were in the older section of the resort and the view was definitely not an ocean view. We complained and they moved us to the main lobby building which was stunning and we had a beautiful view of the entire resort and ocean. Was so happy that they were able to move us! It made the trip even better.

Food was mostly great. Definitely talk to people when you arrive to figure out how to do the restaurants right. At the teppanyaki, skip the whole teppanyaki wok experience. Instead, order sushi from the outdoor area menu and sit on the patio. At the steak house, they have the option to cook your own steak at your table – we didn’t know about this and definitely wish we had. Order the souffle – it is massive and so delicious. The buffet was great for breakfast and lunch – so many gluten free options and the smoothie bar in the morning was amazing. The Fusion restaurant is quite an experience – the staff play super loud music and dance while they cook – they were also super accommodating of my gluten allergy. The Italian restaurant was my fav, so we booked it for two nights.

The beach is small and private which we really liked, but if you are a fan of big beaches where you can walk for miles, this isn’t for you. However, there are bigger beaches nearby that you can visit. The water is a bit murky right on the shore with seaweed. I’ve been to enough perfect beaches, so I really didn’t mind the bit of murky water. The views are still turquoise water and the sand is really nice. The beach chairs and cabanas are beautiful.

We took a trip to Scape Park one day and it was fun to have a change of scenery and experience the zip lines and waterfalls. Beware though that the place is a little sketchy. The staff try to charge you for everything at every turn. They even try to get you to not take photos because they want you to buy their photos. We ended up just still taking photos and videos etc. however some people were really mad about this.

This one-piece swimsuit is from La Vie En Rose and I love it so much! It fits really beautifully and looks expensive. I love that you can wear it with or without straps as well. (gifted)

We also took a trip to the beach near Cap Cana Marina where the cruise ships dock. The beach here is stunning and the water is super warm. It was really nice. My husband also went golfing at the Cap Cana Golf Course and said it was the nicest course he has ever golfed. It has stunning views and is right on the ocean. Worth it to check out the photos. It’s expensive, but worth it.

Overall, we had such a great week and I would recommend this resort. This post is not sponsored in any way.
