Wedding Accessories

Playing dress up was a huge part of my childhood. I also spent a lot of time throwing weddings for my Barbies. So when I got engaged, I couldn’t wait to get to play dress up in the prettiest dresses I’ve ever seen. I was like a kid in a candy store getting to try on all of the beautiful gowns. I committed to trying on all the dresses – no matter how outrageous or extra. I was basically like, “bring me all the tulle and glitter and pops of colour.” And although I was so happy when I finally said yes to the dress, I also was a little bit sad that dress up time was over.

So, when David’s Bridal invited me in to play dress up in some of their gowns and accessories, I couldn’t pass it up. I know it’s a risk to try on wedding dresses after saying yes to the dress, but I just couldn’t help myself. Below, I’ve put together 3 different looks for 3 different wedding types. Check it all out and let me know your fav!

Look #1: Fairytale

This Vera Wang gown seriously has my heart. The flower belt is actually removable as well. This look is all about feeling like a princess. I added a cute little veil, a sparkly clutch and beautiful rose gold earrings. I love all of the layers of pink tulle. You can’t help twirling in this dress.

Look #2: Destination

This next look is all about an easy-breezy destination wedding look. This gown is so light and easy to wear. I also chose a block heel to help make walking in the sand a little easier. I skipped the veil and instead opted for a really pretty crown headband. The back of this dress would also be perfect for a more traditional wedding. This dress is so pretty and versatile. It also has a pink tone to it that doesn’t really show up in these photos, but it’s seriously dreamy. I added a white, lace clutch and a diamond bracelet to finish off the look. I also put my hair up, since most destination weddings take place in hot weather and it’s so much easier to manage this way.

Look #3: Ballroom/Glamorous

This next look brings the drama. The cathedral veil adds so much glamour to this look that would be perfect for a big ballroom wedding. I upped the glam factor with a statement necklace and didn’t shy away from an over-the-top platform pump. This veil was seriously fun to wear. It really had me rethinking the veil for my dress. This dress also has a hint of blush pink and I love how flattering the trumpet silhouette is.

Cuddly Clothes

Being comfy and warm is really important to me. I hate being cold and in the winter it’s inevitable – I’m frozen from October to May. Because of this, I’m constantly on the hunt for warm items that still look good. Sweaters, pants, boots, coats, hats, gloves – I try and seek out the cutest and warmest items I can find.

Below, I’ve put together some of my recent favourites. These two sweaters from Tobi are adorable, flattering and also really cozy.

These boots are EVERYTHING! I always rely on Cougar boots for my winter footwear. The boots look cute, but they are also waterproof, anti-slip, vegan and they perform in -30 degree weather.

I’ve also included a dress because the holiday season is coming up. I love that this dress will still keep me warm and I can pair it with a cute pair of patterned tights. You can dress it down with some flats or dress it up with some sparkly heels. I’m also a sucker for the scalloped edges – so cute!

Let the Holiday Shopping Season Begin!

So I know it kind of goes against the true meaning of Christmas and everything, but I can’t help but LOVE going to mall around Christmas time and doing my Christmas shopping. Everything is extra beautiful and sparkly, there’s a warm feeling in the air and this is when all of the best merchandise and gift sets come out! Seriously, what’s not to love?

I don’t mess around when it comes to my Christmas shopping. I love doing it. I start early, but it’s mostly window shopping until I can narrow down the right gift and then I end up buying everything last minute. There’s a real strategy to it. My fav mall to shop at during the holidays is Yorkdale Shopping Centre in Toronto. It’s not as crowded as the other malls, they have all of the most beautiful window displays and pop ups and I have to admit the best part is the Avion Holiday Boutique.

If you haven’t experienced the Avion Holiday Boutique yet, you are seriously missing out. From now until December 31st they offer valet parking, gift wrapping, coat and parcel check (GENIUS!), VIP lounge and café, porter service, and there’s even a virtual reality experience.

The coat check and valet parking is SO key this time of year. There’s nothing worse than circling the parking lot for hours or dragging around your big, bulky coat while you try and hold onto your shopping bags. These two things alone make me so incredibly happy when I’m shopping. The coffee and cookies don’t hurt either.

Let me know if you’re taking a trip to Yorkdale this holiday season and if you’re an Avioner, be sure to take advantage of the boutique! The holiday decor and comfy furniture will be exactly what you need after a tough day of shopping.

Beautiful Coat Contest

You may remember last year around this time I partnered with an amazing group of bloggers and we gave away a Noize jacket. Well, it’s that time again!

When Noize asked if we wanted to run another contest this year we all jumped at the chance. I really can’t say enough good things about these coats. The style and design are really flattering while also being super warm at the same time! They are cruelty free and the hoods are made using faux fur (yeah!) and the pockets are lined with the softest material so you don’t even need gloves. I also find the price point to be super reasonable ($219), especially given the quality.

The coat I’m wearing below is called Kinsley. I’ve been living in it all month and I’m seriously obsessed. I get ridiculous cold in the winter, so I need a warm jacket I can rely on to keep me toasty. I also love that you don’t have to compromise on style to stay warm!

I’m so happy that one of you will have the chance to win one of these beauties! We had so much fun putting together this group photoshoot. You can check the girls’ blogs at Teach in Fashion, Ella Pretty Blog, Nelle Creations and Liner, Glitter & Gloss

Be sure to visit my Instagram page to see how you can enter the contest. no way sponsored, administered, or associated with Instagram.

Good luck!
