Pink Mail Bag – February 2017 Edition

This months Pink Mail Bag is full of some of the cutest new arrivals I’ve ever seen and alot of pink! There’s been so many fun deliveries lately that I’ve been dying to write about, but this month turned into one of the busiest months of my life (!!!).  I’m finally getting around to finishing this post so let’s get started!

I’m so excited to introduce you to Pombons. These little pom pom shoe clips totally change up the look of your favourite shoes and they are absolutely adorable! The company was started by my friend Cristina from Shoe Tease Blog, who is definitely a shoe expert. The colour selection is amazing. Check out the combinations I created below! I can’t get over how cute they are.

I wanted to write about the skincare lineup I’ve been using because my skin has never felt better. This Garnier Gentle Clarifying Cleansing Gel feels really gentle and moisturizing but it also easily removes all of my makeup and mascara. This is exactly what I look for in a cleanser.

I have to have Caudalie Beauty Elixir on hand at all times for morning and night. If you haven’t discovered this product yet, YOU MUST. It has a cult following and for good reason. The refreshing and clean feeling you get after spraying it on is actually addicting. My skin always feels amazing after a quick spritz throughout the day and before I put my makeup on.

This Philosophy Take A Breath Eye Gel Cream is so moisturizing and non-irritating. My eyes are SUPER sensitive and this product has been one of the only eye creams I’ve been able to use consistently. It also feels really smooth and cooling on tired eyes which I love for the morning.

Last but not least, this Origins GinZing Energy Boosting Moisturizer is one I will buy over and over again. It’s rare that I actually buy beauty products since I get sent quite a bit, so you know if I’m re-purchasing it means a product was THAT good. This one checks off all of my boxes for a great moisturizer: lightweight, fresh, soothing, hydrating and oil-free.

Lise Watier sent over some of their new products for spring and I’m loving the mix of light pink, bronze and pops of bright colour. There’s also a great moisturizer with an SPF that I’m saving for my upcoming vacation and the spring/summer months. This eyeshadow souffle is one of my all time favourite products. I use it almost daily. It’s a mix between a cream and powder shadow and it goes on so smoothly with a really subtle shimmer. This pink blush shade is really pretty. Also, I love a good bronzer and this one is a must!

I get so excited when new fragrances land on my doorstep. Especially when the packages are completely pink! This new fragrance from Tory Burch is called Love Relentlessly and it’s definitely my new go-to date night perfume. It’s a mix of pink pepper and patchouli, infused with dewy rose and amber. And check out the jewel-shaped bottle with hints of gold. The package came with some note paper cards to write out some love letters. I’ll definitely be using these! This perfume now has a permanent spot on my vanity.

Skechers sent over these new gym shoes and I basically haven’t taken them off since they arrived. They are so comfortable they seriously feel like a second skin. I love the graphic design and they are incredibly lightweight. I can use all the workout motivation I can get and cute shoes definitely do the trick!

IMG_3587

Can we talk about the packaging on these new Quo spring products from Shoppers Drug Mart? These are definitely “display on my vanity” worthy. They seriously look like little pieces of art and the shadows and blushes inside are beautiful. There’s also a great brow kit. I’ll be using all of these pink shades all spring/summer!

When Cake introduces new products I immediately jump for joy. And when they announce that they are introducing an entire lineup of dry styling products, I basically hit the ceiling! Check out these new hair products below. I cannot get enough. First of all, all Cake products smell like heaven. Second of all, these sprays are a major lifesaver for girls on the go. I’m always heading from the gym to work to events and I’m always looking for products to help my hair look presentable and last longer between washes. These have definitely been added to my must-have list. Plus, the cute packaging and delicious smell is a bonus! Since my hair is pretty dry, I’ve been using The Locks Smith Hydrating Dry Conditioner Spray the most. It has Argan Oil, Coconut Oil and Crambe Seed Oil to add shine, moisturize, smooth and condition my hair. It’s also a frizz-fighter and super lightweight. It’s been saving my dry hair this winter since static is basically my #1 enemy!

Some companies are a match made in heaven and I’m loving this new collaboration between Clinique and Crayola. How much fun are these new limited-edition Chubby Sticks? Any girl that says she doesn’t want these, is lying to herself. It’s pure childhood nostalgia mixed with lipstick! As a child, nothing was better than opening a new box of crayons and now as a beauty addict nothing is better than opening up a fresh new lipstick. These give you the best of both of those experiences! haha. I’m in love with the Tickle Me Pink shade. All of the shades add a juicy pop of subtle colour to the lips and are spring perfection.

Polar Bears & Floral Ice Buckets

I’m so excited to partner up with Polar Ice Vodka this month! You’ll notice below that these bottles are actually missing the iconic Polar Ice polar bear from the bottle. Polar Ice recently released these limited edition bearless bottles to help raise awareness for Polar Bears International’s mission to keep the magic of Canada’s arctic alive.

IMG_3880

I’ve watched enough documentaries to know that this is a huge problem and one that I feel strongly about. Scientists are predicting that as the Arctic continues to warm, two-thirds of the worlds polar bears will disappear within this century. Polar Ice Vodka and Polar Bears International are working to reverse this trend. Have you seen Leonardo Dicaprio’s After the Flood documentary yet? It’s incredibly eye opening. You have to see it if you haven’t yet! It really sheds light on this issue. Anytime I hear that animals are in distress or are at risk of becoming extinct, I can’t help but want to get involved.

IMG_3883

Stay tuned to my Instagram on February 27th (International Polar Bear Day) because Polar Ice will be donating $1.00 for every like, share and comment I get on their post to Polar Bears International (up to $500!)!

Also, check out the bottom of this post for instructions on how I made these floral ice buckets!

How to create a floral ice bucket:

The key to creating a flower ice bucket is to work in layers. Flowers float to the surface of water so I created my flower ice bucket in 4 different layers to ensure flowers are evenly distributed.

Step 1: Fill the bottom of ice bucket with flowers and water and freeze for 4 hours

Step 2: Add second layer of water and flowers for freeze for another few hours.

IMG_3565

Step 3: Place round container in the middle of the ice bucket and fill up another layer of water with flowers. Freeze for another few hours

IMG_3567

Step 4: Finish final layer of water and flowers and freeze.

Tip: My ice bucket wouldn’t fully freeze while the container was inside the ice bucket so I ended up removing the container and the ice stayed in tact. I turned up the freezer to it’s highest setting and then then all of the water was able to fully freeze.

Step 5: Run ice bucket under warm water upside down until ice sculpture is released.

Step 6: Place liquor bottle inside ice bucket

Thanks for Polar Ice Vodka for sponsoring this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Aruba Travel Diary

Ever since posting THESE flamingo photos in November, I’ve received alot of questions about my trip to Aruba.  I wanted to put together a full Aruba travel diary to highlight where we stayed, what we ate and where I would recommend visiting! So, here it is!

Where to stay:

We stayed at the Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino and I would highly recommend it. The above photo is the view from our hotel balcony and it was absolutely stunning!

We loved our week at the Marriott in Aruba and after walking the beach strip to check out all of the other hotels nearby, we were really happy with our decision. The stretch of beach at the Marriott was the nicest and the hotel grounds were beautiful.

IMG_0584     IMG_2529

The service all week was amazing, food was unreal and the rooms were nice and roomy. There was just a really great vibe the whole time we were there. We loved hanging out at the beach in the morning and then heading to the adult pool in the afternoon. We’d lay under the cabanas at the pool for a late lunch and cocktails. I’m still dreaming about these cocktails. I recommend the Miami Vice (half strawberry daiquiri and half pina colada) or the Chocolate Monkey. They line the glass with chocolate syrup, fill the glass with a banana/chocolate/rum slushie and then fill the straw with rum with a cherry on top. My mouth still waters thinking about it. I’ve had this drink at other resorts but this one was next level yummy. Iguanas are everywhere around the pool and we loved watching them scurry around and sunbathe in the trees.

Where to Eat:

I really can’t say enough about the food in Aruba. Everything we ate was fantastic. The room service at the Marriott was delicious, the buffets were great and every restaurant was better than the next. There’s a Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse at the Marriott and the sushi bar in the lobby is alot of fun for cocktails and apps. I have a gluten allergy so I always get a little nervous going to resorts, but I had zero problems here. They even had Udi’s gluten free bread (my fav!) and a gluten free toaster at the Marriott buffet, so I was able to eat almost everything off the menu’s.

Atardi Restaurant at the Marriott:

This is the view you get to enjoy while you eat at Atardi restaurant. Just take a minute to take in these views….

IMG_2592

We ended up eating dinner at the Atardi Restaurant at the Marriott Hotel 3 times (!!!) throughout the week because you cannot beat the food, experience and view. It’s one of those dining experiences that basically ruins all other dining experiences for you because it’s just THAT good.

IMG_9975

The restaurant tables are outside right next to the ocean. You take your shoes off at the entrance and have your toes in the sand throughout dinner. Make sure you schedule your reservation around 6:15 so you don’t miss the sun setting! The sun sets early in Aruba (around 6:30) so we scheduled our dinner reservations pretty early so we could watch the sunset. They have live musicians each night and it makes for one of the most romantic dinner settings ever. You really have to experience it for yourself. I recommend the lobster tail. Anytime there’s lobster on a menu, there’s about a 99% chance that’s what I’m getting. It was delicious!

Screaming Eagle Restaurant

Another really cool dining experience we had was at Screaming Eagle Restaurant. You eat dinner in a bed, surrounded by white flowy curtains. The waiters bring you your food on trays and you eat cuddled up in a sea of pillows and a comfy headboard. It was so much fun and the food was incredible!

IMG_0376

I ate barracuda for the first time and loved it. We popped some champagne and after a glass or two I couldn’t help but jump on the bed a few times. It’s just way too tempting. The chocolate mousse dessert will forever haunt me because it was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. I will plan another trip to Aruba just to have that dessert again. Mmmmm!

Where to Go & What to Do:

Renaissance Hotel Flamingo Island

If you missed my post on Flamingo Island you must click HERE because it was one of the best days of my life. I can’t get enough of these pictures! I HAVE to go back to Aruba someday to visit these flamingo friends again.

Royal Plaza Pink Mall

After the flamingo island adventure, we ended up at the pink mall (because it’s right next to the Renaissance Hotel) so it was basically the pink filled day of my dreams. The mall looks like a decorated cake with the pink walls and the white awnings. It’s absolutely adorable!

Island Tour

The day we had scheduled our island tour was the day it (of course) rained. And it NEVER rains in Aruba! So we must head back to Aruba at some point to do this tour because it sounded amazing! I love that you can tour the whole island in just a few hours. The tour included snorkling at baby beach and an ATV excursion. I can’t wait to get back to Aruba to explore the rest of the island!

Galentine’s Day Contest!

February is definitely my favourite winter month. Valentine’s Day (my favourite pink-filled holiday) falls in February and it’s also my birthday month! February can be depressing weather-wise so it’s nice having an excuse to celebrate. I love celebrating Valentine’s Day with my love, but I’m also loving the new tradition of celebrating Galentine’s Day with your best “gals”. This year, I’ve partnered up with some of my favourite blogger friends to bring you some Galentine’s Day inspiration and set you up for the ultimate night out with your girls and/or your man.

Check out the amazing prizes below ($900 value!) and be sure to enter using the Rafflecoptor at the bottom of the post! You can also check out my social media accounts for more ways to enter.

Perfect skin is the basis for feeling confident and confidence is key on Valentine’s Day! How ADORABLE is this pink Clarisonic Mia Fit cleansing device? I’m seriously in love with it. It looks so cute sitting on my bathroom counter and it completely changes your face washing game. I’ve especially needed it lately to get rid of dry skin during these cold winter months. I have really dry skin and without the light exfoliation of this device my skin turns flaky when I put my face makeup on. You could win your own Mia Fit by entering our contest or you can visit their website and receive 14% off until Valentine’s Day.

Smelling delicious on Valentine’s Day is a must so you’ll need a flirty new fragrance! I really loved Rihanna’s last fragrance called Crush but after testing her newest fragrance called Kiss, I now have a new fav! Fragrance makes an amazing Valentine’s Day gift idea and you can find this one at Shoppers Drug Mart.  The white floral fragrance is mixed with top notes of Neroli with a touch of juicy plum and Freesia. At the heart is orange blossom, Gardenia and Asian Peony. The base is cashmere wood, cedarwood and Ambergris. Also, how cute is the bottle?

Bouncy, bombshell curls are next on the Valentine’s Day checklist. I’m so excited that we get to give away this Babyliss hair wand from Trade Secrets. If your hair doesn’t curl easily or doesn’t hold curls very well, this is the perfect wand for you. I visit Trade Secrets any time I need a new curling iron and I recently picked up THIS Babyliss iron. I love alternating between a curling iron and a wand to achieve different looks for different occasions. I like to use a curling iron for more day-to-day natural curls and then I use the wand for special occasions when I want an extra glammed up look. From now until February 24th at Trade Secrets, you can get savings up to 60% off and buy 2 and get 1 free on select nail polish brands like Essie, Vinylux, Color Club, OPI.

At least a few times a week I catch myself saying “I wish someone would just deliver me ___”. Insert the word ice cream, groceries, McDonalds, Starbucks, dry cleaning, cupcakes etc. etc. There’s so many times in our lives where we are either too busy or too lazy to go and get whatever it is we need or are craving at that moment. Especially living in Toronto where venturing out means dealing with traffic and paying for parking. Insert JoeyCo, the genius delivery service app that will deliver just about anything you request. It can also come in handy on days like Valentine’s Day where you can just have flowers, dinner, chocolates and gifts delivered and save yourself alot of time! The lucky winner of our contest will receive a $200 gift card to use towards JoeyCo services!

Cute shoes are a must for any Galentine’s Day! These Skechers shoes are so lightweight and comfortable they seriously feel like slippers. I can see why their slogan is “Comfort Included”. I picked out the cute light pink one’s pictured below (of course!). I’m loving them for workouts at the gym because they are so lightweight and form to your foot. I’ve also been pairing them with jeans on the weekend when I’m out in about and I love that they can work double duty as workout or casual shoes!
