Let me start by saying that I actually made the below macarons! Yes, that’s me bragging haha. Because, if you know anything about macarons, you know that they are one of the hardest recipes to master. I’ve definitely not yet mastered the recipe, but I did make these with some help from a Macaron Workshop at Le Dolci. This is my second time taking the class. The first time was part of a Pink the Town event and the second was for a friends birthday party. It’s a fun way to spend a girl’s day, bachelorette party or shower. This time, I even created a mini macaron doughnut (pictured below!). I also decided to put together the below Macaron Smoothie recipe. Mmmmm!
I loved using the gold flakes and a paint brush to create the gold effects on the pink macarons.
Did you know that almost all macarons are the same flavour? It’s actually the icing in the middle that gives the cookie it’s flavour. The macaron cookie is also rock hard when it comes out of the oven. It’s only after the cookie absorbs the moisture from the icing in the middle that it develops it’s soft, chewy consistency.
