It’s been a big year for our fave Br-It girl, Alexa Chung. She won yet another British Fashion Award, wrote her first book, and turned the big 3-0. What better way to celebrate than with a spotlight on Ms. Chung’s covetable style?
Glamorously hipster, Alexa has one of the most recognizable personal styles of our generation. Peter pan collars, choppy bangs, stick-thin legs, and seasonless denim cut-offs endressly remind us of the famous front-rower. So you can steal her cool-girl look, we’ve put together an edit of a few must-haves for the ultimate Chunged-out style.
All you need is:
1. A copy of her style guide, “It”. Available at Indigo.
2. A long cardi to pair with full skirts and denim cut-offs, like Madewell’s Coffeeshop Cardi.
3. Alexa’s so cool she even has Mulberry handbag named after her. This bag is clearly a staple. Available at Net-A-Porter.
4. A black floppy hat to be worn with anything and everything. Try this version from Forever 21.
5. A retro pair of sunnies, like this pair for under $10 from Forever 21.
6. This Zara dress, with a polka-dot print, relaxed silhouette, and peter pan collar just screams Alexa Chung.
7. For the quintessential striped top Alexa pairs with cut-offs and loafers, try this option from Joe Fresh.
8. A printed flippy skirt to be worn with a cardi and graphic tee, like this version from Urban Outfitters.
9. A go-to ballet flat, complete with bow detail. Try this version from Madewell.
10. And finally, a great pair of high-waisted denim shorts, like this retro pair from Urban Outfitters.
For more on Alexa, check out this month’s issue of Marie Claire magazine, where they feature a fill-in-the-blank story with the famous front-rower (can be partially viewed here). Some of our favourites include (for full effect, read them in Alexa’s accent)…
What’s on your…
wish list: “I wish they would make adult versions of those trainers for kids with heels that light up.”
bed: “My mattress is too short for my bed, so there’s a gap at the end that people fall through – and by people, I mean unsuspecting lovers.”
kitchen counter: “Almonds, cornichons, and the world’s largest rotting yam.”
This girl has charm. We love her ten times more now.
